For businesses based in Cornwall there is a lot of support available, both practical and financial funded in large part, for a little while longer, by the European Union. Add to this the UK government responses to the impact of Covid-19 and a wide range other offers of help and assistance and there is much to consider. And yet, perhaps surprisingly, many of the funded initiatives find it difficult to recruit companies and businesses to take up this support, particularly in the eastern half of Cornwall.
What might explain this apparent lack of interest?
Well, there could be a number of reasons, for example:
· Running a business is a full-time job! It is not always easy to find time to consider the myriad of support possibilities when you have customers, employees, suppliers and much more to think about.
· It is not always clear what is available and where you might find it.
· And, if you do find it, the process of application, particularly for a small business can often appear a little daunting and time consuming.
At Bude Business Voice we aim to work with local businesses individually and collectively to increase awareness of what is available and pursue opportunities. We will work with Cornwall wide providers such as the Growth Hub and Oxford Innovation, but also with local companies, raising awareness of what they do through our activities and helping others in Bude and Stratton be aware of the support and services available to them in their local community.
