The G7 are meeting. An opportunity to engage with the world and achieve short and long-term benefit for Cornwall. Well, maybe.
The Prime Minister announced yesterday a ‘fitting legacy’ from it all through government investment in St Ives, Penzance and Camborne. Great for those towns and undoubtedly investment that is needed. But there is (of course!) much more to Cornwall and it is hard to see investment in those places making much of a difference in Bude, Launceston, Saltash.
A feeling persists that we miss out more than we should; get forgotten; are too far away. But perhaps there is more that we could do? Each of the towns receiving investment have strong business organisations that work closely with the community to make their case. Our event, Bude Business and Community on June 24th at The Falcon Hotel will look at some of the challenges ahead and suggest that there is more that we could do. Join us and other attendees from across the community, register for the event now and tell us what you think.
Meanwhile, responding to a great initiative by Cornwall Chamber to spread G7 impact around Cornwall, Bude Business Voice will be co-ordinating a discussion from the new Touchdown shared office facility and feeding in views from Bude to a Cornwall wide discussion on the afternoon of the 11th June. If there is something you’d like us to say, please let us know!
Bude Business Voice is a led by business. Working with organisations such as Bude Stratton Town Council, The Bude Area Tourism Board, Transition Bude, Parish Councils and the Bude Climate Partnership we want business to make a strong contribution to the future plans for Bude, Stratton, the community and the economy.
It is time for a strong Bude Business Voice.
