Creative Bude

It is only a week since we launched our creative sector in Bude survey and there have been some great responses! There is a real diversity of activity, under a broad creative heading. The need for more creative space comes through strongly, as does building local connections and showcasing what creative businesses in Bude and its surrounding area have to offer.

Yesterday we met Cornwall Council to discuss how the newly published Creative Manifesto for Cornwall can reach out to and have impact in Bude. We talked about extending Cornwall’s network of creative hubs, about working to support networks of freelancers and small businesses; and how initiatives such as Creative Cornwall Calling, might support projects here. Using the survey responses, we want to begin to build a Creative Bude approach, part of a strong Bude Business Voice, that can help to raise the profile of this important part of our local economy and community; and bring business opportunity and support to Bude, Stratton and the surrounding area. The Chancellor’s Spending Review has highlighted the severity of our economic challenge; emphasising how it important it is for the whole community to work together for recovery. Bude Business Voice will be a business organisation led by business; and representing all of sectors that make up the Bude area economy. Working closely with key organisations such as Bude Stratton Town Council and community organisations we want business to make a strong contribution to the future plans for Bude, Stratton, the community and the economy.

It is time for a strong Bude Business Voice.
