Bude, Stratton and the parishes that surround are distinctive, different to many places in Cornwall and the rest of the UK. Relative remoteness from other centres and access to services creates significant challenges for the community and economy; but it also creates resilience and awareness of the need for a locally sustainable approach to community and business. The Bude Climate Partners for example are leading activity to test new ways to build a sustainable local approach; while Visit Bude, alongside doing a great job to promote the area’s visitor offer, have declared a climate emergency and are building an approach to sustainable tourism that is good for the community and good for the economy. And Bude companies such as Water Powered Technologies and Cleaner Seas have developed distinctive technologies that successfully support communities and the environment around the world.
How can we build on all of this to create an even more distinctive place at the forefront of change, a leading example of a sustainable small-town community and economy?
On June 24th we will host an event at The Falcon Hotel called Bude Business and Community. Please join us to discuss how community and business can come together to make things happen. There will be lunch, networking, an exhibition of local businesses and presentations about influencing the future of Bude and its surrounding area
Bude Business Voice is a led by business; and aims to represent all sectors in the Bude area economy. Working with organisations such as The Bude Area Tourism Board, Transition Bude, Bude Stratton Town Council, Parish Councils and the Bude Climate Partnership we want business to make a strong contribution to the future plans for Bude, Stratton, the community and the economy.
It is time for a strong Bude Business Voice.
